Lisa serves the Alliance for a Healthier Generation as the Senior National Physical Education/Physical Activity Advisor. She provides content expertise, professional development and provides evidence based resources for physical educators and classroom teachers.
Her experience includes 25 years in the physical education field. Prior to joining the Alliance, Lisa served as the Senior Consultant for physical activity, nutrition, tobacco and sun safety for the Colorado Department of Education. Lisa has developed and implemented strategies and training to support teachers, schools and districts to utilize best practices for physical activity, physical education, nutrition education and tobacco prevention. She also worked as an exercise physiologist at a health and weight management center for overweight women, where she provided instruction on the principles of exercise, strength training, physical activity and behavior modification. Throughout her career, she has taught physical education and health education to grades PK-community college. Other experience includes implementation of staff and corporate wellness programs, personal training and leading group exercise.
She has presented at national and regional conferences on the topics of Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity, Integrating Physical Activity into Classrooms, Best Practices in Physical Education, Health-Related Fitness Assessment, Skill and Cognitive Assessment in Physical Education, Adventure Education, Out of School Time Physical Activity, Recess, and Standards Based Instruction.
Lisa lives, works and plays in western Colorado and enjoys climbing mountains, hiking, biking, horseback riding and fishing.
