Dr. Kymm Ballard is an Assistant Professor at Campbell University as the Health and Physical Education Teacher Education Coordinator and runs her own business, Kymm Ballard Consulting™. Her consulting practice offers 25 years of experience and networking to provide technical assistance on ESSA, grants, and policies in education, organizations and corporations. Dr. Ballard is most recognized by her passion and networking for physical education. Her work on policy and legislation, most recently with ESSA, is driven by her desire to make a difference in this profession she loves.
Kymm is the former Executive Director for the SPARK Programs where for nearly 9 years her role was to seek and maintain partners, marketing opportunities and funding for Sportime featuring SPARK in efforts to provide research based physical education to schools around the country and world. Prior to SPARK, Dr. Ballard was the Physical Education, Athletics and Sports Medicine Consultant with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Her professional experiences include service for more than a decade as a physical education teacher, several years as an administrator and the co-developer of North Carolina’s first high school demonstration school.
In addition to being the Past-President of the Society of State Directors for Health, Physical Education and Recreation, she also served as the Chair for the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) Public Relations Committee, SHAPE America Advisory Council, and is continuously asked to serve on numerous committees representing physical education updates, meetings and workshops
